A leading council is seeking a Human Resources Advisor for a fixed term of 12 months. The role involves providing comprehensive HR support and advisory services across various departments, and contributing to policy development. Ideal candidates will have a relevant degree, CIPD membership, and a strong understanding of HR practices. The closing date for applications is July 4th, 2025.
To assist in the provision of a comprehensive Human Resources Support and Advisory Service. The role will include providing advice on various subjects to other Departments and involve some project work related to making a contribution to the development of policies and procedures.
Assist in the provision of a comprehensive Human Resources Advisory Service
Assess grading claims and provide advice on organisational development
Assist with the provision of Human Resources Administrative Support
Assist in developing employment policies and practices
Experience in a generalist human resources role, with experience/knowledge of:
Industrial relations problems
Advising on and attending disciplinary hearings and investigations
Preparation of contracts of employment and provision of advice on conditions of service issues Advising managers and employees
Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent
Graduate member of CIPD Understanding of current human resources and local authority issues
Knowledge of trade union consultation
Ability to work using initiative and common sense and to take balanced decisions when necessary
Ability to remain impartial and stand own ground
Excellent communication and presentation skills - verbal and written
Knowledge of human resources policies and legislation and ability to relate it to practical issues
Ability to gain trust of managers
Ability to work accurately and to accept responsibility
Sound knowledge of good practice and ability to give constructive advice under pressure
Outgoing, positive personality
Ability to give presentations
Confident, mature approach
Must respect confidentiality
Ability to relate to people at all levels.
Fixed term position for 12 months
Closing date: 4th July 2025
Salary: £33,439 to £47370 (career grade scheme applies)
£17.74 per hour
36.25 hours per week
