A leading port authority is seeking a Pilot Boat Operator to manage and maintain workboats, ensuring safety and compliance with maritime regulations. The role involves routine maintenance, customer service, and environmental tasks, with a part-time commitment of 8 shifts monthly. Candidates must possess relevant qualifications and are encouraged to live close to Dover for convenience.

You will be required to operate the pilot boat (s) and work boat in a safe and efficient manner, following the requirements of the port's VSM code as and where applicable. Undertake routine planned and reactive maintenance, including safety checks of the craft and equipment.
Support the functions required by internal and external customers, following the HPL prioritisation document and at all times provide a professional customer service.
You will also deliver the full range of workboat requirements including, but not limited to:
- Environmental work such as trawling and mud sampling
- Hydrographic surveys
- Ship handling assistance for other craft
- Waterborne maintenance tasks, such as berth fendering, fixed and mobile
Working hours will be: 12hr shifts days and nights. As this is a part-time position you will be required to work 8 shifts per month.
Skills and Qualifications
All offers of employment are subject to us obtaining satisfactory references (covering all education, training, employment and unemployment in the preceding 5 years) and there will be a pre-employment medical including a Drug and Alcohol test. We need to satisfy your Right to Work in the UK.
Please be aware that all employees will be subject to background security checks in order to obtain a Dock Pass.
