Job summary

Cosma International in the UK seeks a DCM Setting Team Leader to drive die casting process improvements and lead a skilled team. You will oversee DCM setting activities, ensure effective communications, and coordinate with multiple departments to achieve right-first-time outcomes.

The role requires leadership, problem-solving, and a strong understanding of DCM setting tools and HPDC die design. Travel to support on-site activities may be required.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of HPDC die design.

  • Auditing of processes and capability to drive root cause analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Drive adherence to the company’s HSE policies across the department and plant.
  • Lead development of DCM Setters using existing tools for personnel development.
  • Ensure all business communications reach the DCM Setting team.
  • Lead all DCM setting activities and identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency and consistency.
  • Coordinate run-up activities after die changes to minimize timings and improve performance.
  • Initiate and lead cross-functional improvement projects with a focus on shot-to-shot timing as a KPI.
  • Collaborate with all departments to identify issues and drive right-first-time metrics.
  • Capture and report data to measure and improve DCM Setting activities.
  • Maintain process documentation to a certifiable level with daily audits and standard work instructions.
  • Provide guidance through communication, leadership, coaching and mentoring.

Job Responsibilities:

Working for a T1 automotive supplier, reporting to the Die Casting Process Supervisor the DCM Setting Team Leader is responsible for leading the DCM Setting team through experience & perseverance, driving continuous improvement initiatives within the area whilst displaying a clear understanding of the business requirements for safe, efficient and ‘on target’ setting activities.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Drive the adherence of the company’s HSE policies across the department and plant.
  • Lead the development of DCM Setters using the current tools in place for personnel development (e.g. PNet, PDR).
  • Responsible for ensuring all business communications are delivered to the DCM Setting team.
  • Lead all DCM setting activities – demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities for improvement to processes in terms of safety, efficiency and consistency.
  • Lead run-up activities following die change activity to identify areas of improvement and implement robust systems to minimise run up timings.
  • Instigate and lead cross functional improvement projects, using’ shot to shot’ timing as the priority KPI.
  • Coordinate with all depts with issue identification and rectification to help improve ‘Right first time’ metrics.
  • Responsible for identifying, capturing and reporting of data required to allow for measurement and improvement of DCM Setting activities.
  • Drive DCM Setting team to maintain process documentation to a certifiable level – e. g., daily audits, settings sheets, standard work instructions.
  • Offer guidance to others in the business through effective communication, leadership, coaching and mentoring.
  • Playing a supporting role in the implementation of new die casting products/technologies through design input, launches/burst builds/tool trials.

EXPERIENCE :

Essential

  • Leadership skills to mentor and coach team members
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong knowledge of DCM Setting activities
  • Experience in Microsoft Packages
  • Understanding & implementation of DCM parameter management
  • Basic knowledge of HPDC die design
  • Process change management experience
  • Project management experience

Desirable

  • ABB basic knowledge – (IRC5)
  • Knowledge of current personnel development tools used at CCUK
  • Previous Automotive T1 experience
  • Basic understanding of Pneumatic Hydraulic and Electrical fault finding
  • Experience of dealing with external suppliers
  • PFMEA knowledge
  • Ability to carry out maintenance fitting and AM/PM tasks
  • Creation of Standard Work Instructions (SWI)
  • Basic knowledge of HPDC die design
  • Experience of involvement in Continuous Improvement Activities
