Job summary

PhysicsX, the physics AI company for industrials, seeks an IT Lead Engineer to own and scale our HPC infrastructure, including cluster administration, schedulers, and performance tuning for CPU/GPU workloads.

You’ll mentor junior engineers, introduce automation-first processes, and serve as an escalation point for complex issues. The role embraces a high-ownership, scale-up culture with a hybrid model blending UK NY-based collaboration and remote work.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or HPC support, with leadership experience.
• Hands-on HPC infrastructure management including cluster administration, schedulers, and performance tuning for CPU/GPU workloads.
• Experience with SOC 2 / ISO 27001 and translating controls into technical implementation (access reviews, logging, encryption, change management).
• Strong Linux administration and cross-platform support (Linux/macOS/Windows).
• Experience with CI/CD systems, version control, license management, and internal engineering platforms.
• Experience in cloud-native environments across multiple cloud vendors.
• Strong automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the HPC environment: cluster administration, job scheduling, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Manage Entra ID Governance at scale: Access Reviews, Identity Protection, PIM.
• Provide hands-on IT support with an automation-first mindset.
• Mentor and develop junior IT/support engineers and foster ownership.
• Act as escalation point for complex HPC, dev tooling, and IT issues.
• Configure and improve developer tooling (Github Actions/Workflows, JFrog, Chainguard).
