The Shetland Islands Council's Housing Support Shetland is a regulated Housing Support service which is registered with the Care Inspectorate to deliver Housing Support to vulnerable adults in line with the National Care Standards and statutory legislative requirements. The Housing Support Co-ordinator is a member of the Housing Support Section of the Housing Service, based at 8 North Ness Business Park, Lerwick, responsible through the Team Leader - Housing Support. The post will be predominantly office based. The Housing Support Co-ordinator's core working hours will be between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, however, a flexible approach to working hours is required in accordance with the needs of the Service.

The purpose of the job is to assist with all tasks associated with managing and delivering a housing support service including the supervision of staff. The Housing Support Co-ordinator will also ensure the development, delivery and ongoing monitoring of person-centred support, in accordance with relevant legislation and the requirements of Registration.

This vacancy is being advertised as a Career Graded post, which is a career development opportunity. This means that the Council is committed to supporting the successful candidate to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role. The successful candidate will be supported to become fully competent in the role and progress through the career grade. Where there is a requirement to achieve a qualification, this will be fully funded by the Council.

  • Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro rata)
  • Permanent Full Time post for 37.0 Hours per Week , 52.18 weeks per year
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post
