Job summary

Law Staff Legal Recruitment is seeking a Housing Supervisor Solicitor for a firm with offices nationwide. The role covers housing advice, casework and representation, with a focus on vulnerable clients.

The successful candidate will supervise a housing team, oversee legal aid processes, and maintain high professional standards in a supportive, justice-driven environment. Hybrid or remote working options offered.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor with a clean, valid Practising Certificate.
• Meets the Legal Aid Agency Supervisor Standard for housing law.
• Strong management skills with experience supervising staff and meeting KPIs.
• Passionate about legal aid work with a proven track record in housing law.
• Balancing needs of vulnerable clients while supporting paralegals with casework.
• Excellent analytical and organisational skills with sound judgment.
• Strong client care skills with vulnerable clients in sensitive housing matters.
• Proficient IT skills including MS Office and document management systems.
• Experience in own advocacy is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day managerial responsibilities within the Housing team.
• Provide advice, casework, representation and advocacy on housing law matters.
• Undertake own advocacy where necessary.
• Assist in managing the legal aid contract, billing files and ensuring compliance with requirements.
• Supervise and mentor paralegals, including interviewing, advising and drafting.
• Build and maintain links with local community groups, advice networks and legal professionals.
