We have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Standards Officer who can hit the ground running in our Strategic Housing Service. The post will be particularly involved with the licensing and regulation of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs). With the demand for Private Rented Sector housing in the borough ever increasing, it is important that the sector is well regulated. Housing is a key strategy priority both locally and nationally
About You:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of legally compliant documentation for officers and the public through the preparation and service of statutory notices and licences within the HMO licensing scheme and other support roles as required. You will act as the crucial initial first point of contact to those seeking advice including legal issues regarding HMO licensing by telephone, e-mail and letter as well as receiving and processing HMO licence applications.
The Ideal candidate will possess exceptional organisational skills and experience of working in an environment where a high level of accuracy is essential as well as the ability to identify issues and propose probable solutions. You'll be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret specific areas of legislation after training and have the ability to work to tight deadlines ensuring legal targets are met individually and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to deal diplomatically and confidentially with a range of stakeholders at varying levels of seniority both internally and externally.
