Job summary

ESSENTIAL EMPLOYMENT LTD is recruiting an Environmental Health Technical Officer for a hybrid role in Ipswich. You will inspect privately rented properties, assess hazards under HHSRS, and liaise with tenants and landlords to enforce standards.

This temporary full-time position requires strong knowledge of housing legislation, experience with enforcement documentation, and the ability to manage cases through to resolution.

Qualifications

• Experience with Private Sector Housing enforcement and HHSRS.
• Ability to prepare enforcement documents and notices.
• Understanding of housing legislation and enforcement processes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections of privately rented properties across East Suffolk and West Suffolk.
• Investigate housing complaints and identify hazards under HHSRS.
• Liaise with tenants, landlords and stakeholders.
• Produce inspection and enforcement reports.
• Serve statutory notices and progress enforcement action.
• Support housing standards initiatives and related reforms.
• Apply housing legislation and regulatory processes.
