Job summary

Milton Keynes City Council is recruiting a Supply and Acquisitions Officer for the Housing Solutions service. The role focuses on increasing the supply of quality homes, managing a large portfolio of accommodation and building strong landlord partnerships to support homelessness prevention and housing duties.

You will inspect properties, assess health and safety and provide guidance on options, fees and standards to stakeholders, while maintaining records and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• A housing, property, surveying, environmental health or relevant qualification or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of housing legislation, standards, procurement processes and the legal framework for accommodation.
• Effective negotiator who builds positive relationships with landlords, partners and colleagues.
• Experience handling a varied workload and meeting deadlines.
• Comfortable with property inspections and risk assessment under HHSRS, keeping high-quality records.
• Creative problem solver aligned with Dedicated, Respectful and Collaborative values.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a high-quality supply and acquisitions service for Housing Solutions and other council services.
• Develop and maintain relationships with landlords, accommodation providers and external partners to increase availability.
• Manage a large portfolio of accommodation; carry out inspections, housing health and safety assessments, contract management and compliance checks.
• Provide advice on fees, incentives, standards, policies and accommodation options to partners, customers and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor performance information and ensure case management systems are updated within required timescales.
• Use negotiation, problem solving and risk assessment to achieve positive outcomes for residents, landlords and the council.
