BHCC's Housing Directorate is looking for a talented and motivated candidate for a Health, Safety and Compliance Manager role within the busy Repairs and Maintenance Department.

You will be working alongside Repairs & Maintenance Management Team To ensure all operations within the Repairs and Maintenance Service are conducted according to the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and all relevant legislation and council policy. You will be Responsible for providing professional, specialist and technical support working directly with management teams across the Repairs and Maintenance Service.
The role involves ensuring Housing Repairs and Maintenance have appropriate safety management arrangements in place, delivered in accordance with the health and safety policy. Ensuring a proportionate approach to risk management and legal compliance through interpreting legislation and guidance and working with R&M managers to put this into practice.
You will have excellent customer service skills and an understanding of the needs of our diverse staff and customers and be able to tailor delivery accordingly while satisfying all safety, quality and cost control standards.
Performance objectives will include analysing and identifying health and safety issues within the Repairs and Maintenance Service area and working with other specialist health and safety staff, R&M management and operational teams to implement appropriate solutions through training, process change and compliance.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is term-time only. For part time applicants, where your working week is less than the council’s basic 37 hour week, contracted overtime rated pay will not form part of your working hours. This is because overtime rated pay is payable for hours worked in excess of the council’s basic 37 hour week. Your starting salary will be pro rata based on the basic annual salary elements of pay between £42,708 & £45,718.
