Job summary

A local government authority is seeking a Housing Project Officer for Asylum Seeker Support to develop services and support projects related to asylum seekers and refugees. Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team at Wyre Forest District Council as a Housing Project Officer Asylum Seeker Support .

The purpose of this new role will be to lead and support on a number of projects that develop services, strategies, policies and procedures across the remit of the Strategic Growth team with a focus on asylum seekers/refugees. This will also include directly supporting a low number of asylum seekers who have been granted leave to remain and working with the welcome group and other volunteers in supporting all asylum seekers and refugees.

The successful postholder will have;

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (A-C) and HNC / A levels but degree desirable
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience working with customers in an advice or advocacy role, preferably within the asylum seeker or refugee support sector
  • This is a fixed term contract for 2 years

Flexible approach to working hours, able to work outside normal office hours if necessary, including a requirement to be available for evening meetings. You will be required to provide a suitable vehicle for this post. The post is open to hybrid working.
