Job description

Purpose of the job

Wyre Forest District Council are looking for a dynamic Housing Project Officer to lead and support on a number of projects that develop services, strategies, policies and procedures across the remit of the Strategic Growth team with a focus on housing, homelessness and domestic abuse. This is your opportunity to make a significant impact, working on housing, employment and rural policies to help shape the environment, meet the needs of our residents and business and to ensure sustainable growth.

Responsibilities include

  • Support the team in delivering and managing all forms of accommodation including temporary accommodation, supported accommodation and private rented sector accommodation.
  • Co-ordinate, collect, verify, collate and ensure all relevant data is collected from various sources and submitted in a timely manner to comply with government and local requirements, as well as monitoring information and generate reports to inform service delivery and performance.
  • Undertake Housing Needs Surveys on a regular basis to inform developers, planning colleagues, Registered Providers etc on needs within the District.
  • Undertake a full range of professional duties with an emphasis is on providing good customer service, addressing needs and requirements and maximising income whilst achieving greater service efficiencies.
  • You will have the opportunity to work alongside partner organisations, undertake research work and to develop good working relationships with landlords all of which will help to develop our services, you willneed to be able to confidently lead and drive forward projects and initiatives around housing, homelessness, and domestic abuse.
  • Day to day tasks are wide and varied but will include:
  • Working with the Housing Manager and Senior Project Housing Officer to establish, monitor and review contracts of commissioned services.
  • Developing and delivering on housing and homeless strategies and action plans including those that assist in preventing homelessness.
  • Supporting the team to ensure units of temporary accommodation meet compliance requirements.
  • Using our IT systems to support performance management and support the business around rent accounts and collecting income.
  • Confidently leading and driving forward projects and initiatives and undertake research work.

Additional Information

  • The successful candidate should have a good standard or education (preferably to degree level), a minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English and A Levels or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years related work experience working with customers, landlords, Registered Providers or similar.
  • Membership of CIH is desirable.
  • They should be IT literate to a high standard including use of email, spreadsheets and databases, social media, survey monkey etc and an IT qualification desirable.
  • You will be self-motivated, a strategic thinker and have excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to communicate effectively with team members and the general public
