Housing Options Officer (Fixed Term Contract)

About the role

In this exciting role you will work in the Housing Options Team and play a fundamental role in continuing the success of the team in preventing homelessness.

You will provide frontline advice and assistance on all aspects of housing law and ensure that people are aware of their rights and responsibilities with regards to housing.

You will also be responsible for performing the Council’s statutory duty in relation to the Housing Act 1996 Part VII (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

About you

Experience of working in Housing, Benefits, Social Care or a related field and of assessing homelessness applications and giving housing advice would be desirable.

You must be able to work well as a team member, although you will at times be out of the office working on your own conducting home visits and attending meetings.

Good interpersonal skills are essential in this role in order to work confidently and sensitively with households in often difficult situations, as well as with other agencies, in attempting to resolve clients’ housing situations.

This role will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Check and use of a car is essential. The post holder will also be part of the team’s rota for out of hours homelessness cover
