Job summary

Darlington Borough Council is recruiting for a Housing Options Officer (Domestic Abuse). The role offers a salary of £33,119–£35,570 per annum and a permanent, full-time contract.

The successful candidate will provide specialist housing advice to clients at risk of homelessness and those affected by domestic abuse, and will investigate claims of homelessness and housing need. The post requires excellent communication, teamwork and a proactive, motivated approach.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in domestic abuse and housing is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with vulnerable members of the public.
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated and able to work in a demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist housing advice for clients at risk of homelessness and at risk from domestic abuse and investigate homelessness, potential homelessness and housing need.
  • Arrange temporary housing and support where required and help people find appropriate accommodation.
