Job Description:

Housing Options Officer

Starting salary up to £35919 per annum

Based in the King’s Court Council Office, Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

Do you want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families facing homelessness in West Norfolk? We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach to join our Housing Options team.

In this rewarding role, you will provide comprehensive housing advice to individuals in often complex and difficult situations, helping them navigate the services available to prevent homelessness. You will assess cases in line with current legislation, investigate housing situations, and contribute to the delivery of practical, forward-thinking solutions aligned with our Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy.

You should have experience in housing or a similar field, with an understanding of welfare benefits and social care eligibility. You’ll be skilled in working with the public, particularly vulnerable individuals, and have a sound grasp of equality principles. Language skills and cultural awareness, particularly for supporting Ukrainian and Afghan refugee households, will be highly valued.

In return, we can offer performance related pay, a generous annual leave entitlement which includes an office closure between Christmas and New Year and membership of the local government pension scheme. We value flexibility, but this role will be office based for the first 6 months before any hybrid arrangements can be explored.

Subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure, through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
