Overview

Location: Stoke. Salary: £28,000 per annum. Contract: Permanent. Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week).

At Serco, we are proud to work on behalf of the Home Office to manage the Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC). Our mission is to support vulnerable asylum seekers by providing safe, high-quality accommodation and essential services as they navigate the asylum process. This is a static role based in a specific area, ensuring properties are safe, well-maintained and compliant with AASC standards.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct monthly property inspections to ensure compliance with AASC standards.
  • Manage onboarding and withdrawal of properties in line with local operating procedures.
  • Identify and report property faults, ensuring they are categorised correctly for appropriate action.
  • Perform minor property repairs, using the tools and training provided.
  • Handle operational cash administration, such as topping up utility meters and processing emergency payments.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints in a professional manner.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong people skills and experience in face-to-face roles; able to work in a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure.
  • Experience as a Housing Officer is preferred, but applications from those who have worked with vulnerable people are welcomed.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in handling challenging situations (e.g., anti-social behavior, safeguarding concerns, medical needs).
  • Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) security clearance and a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check (subject to Home Office approval).
  • Full, clean driving license is required.
