On behalf of the Home Office, Serco manages the Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC) for the North West of England. We focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system, ensuring vulnerable asylum seekers have access to support and high-quality accommodation.
Our Housing Officers (HO’s) are responsible for ensuring compliance with the AASC Contract, company policies, processes, and procedures through liaising with staff, service users, landlords, external agencies, and partners. You will cover multiple areas in the North West, including Chester & Ellesmere Port, and may be required to cover other areas such as Crewe, Wirral, Winsford, Northwich, and Middlesbrough. Ensuring all properties within your portfolio are safe, habitable, fit for purpose, and fully equipped according to AASC standards. There is a requirement to operate an Emergency On-Call system outside normal working hours on a rota basis.
This role suits someone with a solid work history in face-to-face interactions and who enjoys a demanding workload, utilizing organizational skills while remaining calm under pressure and supporting service users. Criminal Record Bureau checks are required due to the nature of the role. All employment offers are subject to security clearance and approval by the Home Office.
Experience in a property-related role is beneficial but not essential. What matters most is your enthusiasm and desire to make a difference. You will be expected to support service users with various challenges, including dealing with anti-social behaviors, medical needs, and child safeguarding issues.
You should possess strong communication skills and confidence in managing conflicts.
