Job description

This position is on a 12-month fixed-term contract and full-time, working 37.5 hours per week. The office you will work from in this roaming role is Venture Court in Wolverhampton (WV10 6TB). The working patch you will cover is South Staffordshire and Telford.

Key Responsibilities

As a Housing Income Officer you will be part of our friendly and high-performing Income Management team. Your main responsibility will be to provide essential advice and support to customers who are experiencing difficulties with rent payments with a focus on tenancy sustainment.

  • Income Collection and Guidance: Collect income and offer guidance on benefits and income maximisation.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with customers to develop trust and provide tailored support.
  • Support and Solutions: Offer advice and support to those struggling with rent payments, collaborating with other departments to find effective solutions.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with experience in a front-line customer-facing role within a general needs housing environment or a similar background relevant to income collection. An understanding of housing benefit, universal credit, and welfare reform legislation would be advantageous. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be engaging with both colleagues and customers. A positive attitude, proactive approach, and the ability to prioritise your workload are also important.

  • Experience: Front-line customer-facing role within a general needs housing environment or similar background.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of housing benefit, universal credit, and welfare reform legislation.
  • Skills: Strong communication, positive attitude, proactive approach, ability to prioritise workload, good IT skills, attention to detail, and excellent work ethic.
  • Requirements: Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, Enhanced DBS check.

An Enhanced DBS check as well as a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
