Job summary

A local government authority in Scotland is looking for a Housing Assistant to support Housing Officers in delivering local housing services. The Housing Assistant will support Housing Officers in delivering local housing services, including:

  • Interviewing and advising customers on their housing prospects and needs
  • Interviewing customers at tenancy sign-up and other key tenancy changes, such as termination of tenancy
  • Maximising income for the Council and minimising rent arrears

Requirements include relevant experience dealing with the public in person and on the telephone, working with figures, and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages. Knowledge of housing services, including estate management and debt recovery, effective customer service and communication skills, numeracy skills, and the confidence to handle upset or angry customers are essential.

The role requires initiative in decision-making and flexibility to work at various locations when needed. A National Certificate in Housing (or equivalent) is desirable.

Please note that this position is temporary, subject to business needs and funding, for 1 year or until the requirement ceases, whichever comes first.
