A local government authority in Scotland is looking for a Housing Assistant to support Housing Officers in delivering local housing services. Responsibilities include interviewing customers regarding housing prospects and needs, and maximising income for the Council while minimising rent arrears. Relevant experience and strong communication skills are essential for this temporary role, lasting for 1 year or until business needs change.

Requirements include relevant experience dealing with the public in person and on the telephone, working with figures, and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages. Knowledge of housing services, including estate management and debt recovery, effective customer service and communication skills, numeracy skills, and the confidence to handle upset or angry customers are essential.
The role requires initiative in decision-making and flexibility to work at various locations when needed. A National Certificate in Housing (or equivalent) is desirable.
Please note that this position is temporary, subject to business needs and funding, for 1 year or until the requirement ceases, whichever comes first.
