Look Ahead Care, Support and Housing Ltd in Maidstone is seeking a Housing Advisor on a 3.5-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension at the client’s discretion. The role involves handling homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and actively managing a caseload of applicants in Temporary Accommodation under the relief duty.

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Maidstone to assist with the appointment of a Housing Advisor, on a 3.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion.
Rate of Pay: £13.45 - £17.34 per hour
Summary:
The Housing Advisor will be responsible for making enquiries and reaching decisions on homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended). The role will involve actively managing a caseload of applicants living in Temporary Accommodation under the relief duty and ensuring each homelessness journey is progressed to an appropriate outcome.
Responsibilities:
Provide housing advice to individuals and households experiencing housing problems.
Discuss and identify suitable housing options based on applicants' circumstances.
Make enquiries and reach appropriate decisions on homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, as amended.
Actively manage a caseload of applicants living in Temporary Accommodation under the relief duty.
Monitor and progress cases throughout the homelessness journey.
Ensure cases are appropriately concluded through conversion to the main housing duty or through relevant decisions, including not in priority need or intentionally homeless decisions.
Relevant experience in housing advice, homelessness prevention, housing options or homelessness casework is essential.
Good working knowledge of homelessness legislation, particularly Part VII of the Housing Act 1996
Experience managing a caseload of homelessness applicants.
Strong knowledge and practical understanding of homelessness legislation and decision‑making.
Experience managing applicants in Temporary Accommodation under the relief duty.
