Job summary

The George Hotel in Colchester, Essex, is seeking a Housekeeper to maintain high standards of cleanliness across all areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms and public spaces. You will work in a historic hotel with a mix of heritage and modern rooms, delivering a friendly, professional service to guests.

You don’t need previous experience, but the ability to work under pressure, a commitment to cleanliness and a friendly manner are valued.

We are recruiting for a Housekeeper to maintain high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail throughout our hotel.

The George Hotel, located on Colchester High Street in Essex, has been at the heart of England’s oldest recorded town for over 500 years. The hotel offers 49 heritage rooms or suites, alongside 44 modern rooms in St Nicholas’ House, each designed with a blend of traditional features and contemporary comfort.

As a Housekeeper you will;

• Provide a cleaning service to all public, client and staff areas of the building.


• Ensure cleaning meets and exceeds our client standards, including bedrooms, bathrooms and public areas.


• Maintain and enhance the cleanliness of the building.


• Other cleaning duties as required.

As a Housekeeper we would like you to have:

• The ability to work well under pressure or time sensitive environment


• A commitment to high levels of cleanliness


• A friendly personality with customers and staff alike

Any previous experience in this role will help you during your application but is not required for the correct candidate to succeed.
