Key Responsibilities

Cleaning:

Assist with the daily housekeeping requirements of the care home, ensuring odour management is a priority.

Daily Cleaning:

• Empty waste bins and wipe out
• Vacuum throughout
• Shake out cushions
• Clean taps and sinks
• Spot clean all floorings

Weekly Cleaning:

• Polish all mirrors
• Clean all pipe work in lavatories
• Dust handrails and radiators
• Move all mobile furniture (including beds and chairs)
• Vacuum and dust beneath/behind all furniture
• Wash out metal wastepaper bins
• Dust and polish furniture and windowsills

Week One:

Dust light bulbs and fittings

Week Two:

Dust curtain rails

Week Three:

Dust pictures

Week Four:

En-suites – remove seat cushions, vacuum/clear out, restock toiletries, soaps, towels, etc.

Sort washing into relevant groups, process through washer, dryer, and iron, keeping clean and dirty linen separate. Prioritize laundry to suit the needs of the home, departments, and residents. Return linens to appropriate places. Report unmarked clothes to the Registered Manager for return to owners.

Carpets / Floor:

Maintain carpets in good condition and clean as required to control odour. Clean hard floors daily.

Communication:

Participate in staff and client meetings as required.

Training and Development:

Attend mandatory training and maintain professional knowledge.

General:

• Promote the good reputation of the care home
• Maintain confidentiality
• Report absences promptly
• Ensure security and adherence to policies
• Maintain equipment
• Perform other tasks as assigned
• Stay up-to-date with staff handbook
