Job summary

Jobs and Business Glasgow is helping to recruit a Housekeeping Assistant for a hospice in Scotland. You will join a friendly team, perform cleaning, laundry and housekeeping duties, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

The role is 37.5 hours per week, on a rota basis across 7 days; a PVG Check is required. Full training will be provided and you’ll work closely with colleagues to uphold infection control standards.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year's experience working within a healthcare environment.
• Evidence of effective team-working skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and deep cleaning duties across hospice departments.
• Support laundry services, including washing, drying, ironing and distribution of linen.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in patient, visitor and staff areas.
• Replenish housekeeping supplies and assist with stock control.
• Ensure waste is disposed of safely in line with hospice procedures.
• Support infection prevention and control measures, including management of body fluid spillages.
• Report maintenance issues and equipment defects promptly.
• Assist with environmental audits and quality monitoring activities.
• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers and visitors to meet housekeeping requirements.

37.5 hours per week, working 5 days over 7

£24,851 per annum

The housekeeping service operates on a rota basis between 7.00am and 3.00pm, seven days per week. Flexibility is required, as occasional additional hours may be required to support hospice events and functions.

As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of exceptional palliative care by maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming hospice environment. Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you will assist with cleaning, housekeeping and laundry services throughout the hospice.

You will be responsible for carrying out cleaning duties, supporting laundry services, replenishing stock, maintaining housekeeping standards and ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control procedures.

You will work closely with colleagues across the hospice to help create an environment that promotes dignity, comfort and wellbeing for patients and their families.
