Band 2 Housekeeper, up to 30 hours per week, permanent

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic housekeeper to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team. Previous experience is not essential as comprehensive in-house training will be provided to meet the role's demands.

The Emergency Assessment Unit/Ward 6 at West Cumberland Hospital Whitehaven is a 26-bed assessment and short-stay ward. It is a fast-paced environment caring for acutely unwell patients.

Main duties of the job
  1. Monitor and replenish ward stock, including preparing stock and non-stock requisitions for approval.
  2. Maintain high standards of cleaning and hygiene across the ward, treatment rooms, stock rooms, staff rooms, offices, and kitchen, including fridge and microwave. Ensure all equipment, utensils, and surfaces are clean, out-of-date food is discarded, and stock is rotated.
  3. Monitor and ensure the safe disposal of waste.
  4. Assist the Ward Manager in maintaining a safe and tidy ward environment, removing hazards and clutter.
  5. Report equipment faults and monitor repairs.
  6. Report any accidents or incidents following Trust policy.
  7. Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages as scheduled.
  8. Update patient food diaries.
  9. Serve patient meals in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
  10. Assist patients with eating and drinking to meet their nutritional needs, such as cutting up food and placing it within easy reach.
  11. Liaise with patients and carers to ensure they have sufficient clothing and toiletries.
