Job summary

A regional healthcare organization is seeking a Housekeeper for their new mental health unit in Whittingham. You will support ward managers and ensure a clean, safe environment for patients. Job description

Water Meadow View is a new mental health inpatient unit for adults who have learning disabilities, which is due to open in late 2025 on our site in Whittingham, Preston. As we prepare to open this unit, we have an exciting opportunity for a Housekeeper to join us and support the Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver outstanding person centred care.

The post holder will work as an integral part of the Ward team and will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities/services in the in-patient area and for ensuring a safe, clean and comfortable environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver on key responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting ward managers in the running of the unit, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs, as determined by the Matron, Ward Manager or Nurse in Charge.
  • Working closely with contractors and Estates & Facilities departments, and monitoring quality standards and rectifying deficiencies in liaison with the Ward Managers.
  • Carrying out regular equipment monitoring and asset registers in accordance with procedures and in liaison with medical engineering, escalating identified issues in line with Trust policies.
Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
  • Working towards NVQ Level 3 in related subject (to be achieved within 1 year of appointment) or equivalent level of experience.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of planning and organising daily activities across a variety of disciplines.
  • Experience of a busy ward environment.
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public.
