OCS UK & Ireland is a leading facilities management company delivering cleaning, catering and support services to hospitals. The role is based at Herts & Essex General Hospital, working Saturday and Sunday 7:30am–3pm, with weekend pay rates.

The Domestic Assistant/Housekeeper will clean ward areas, assist the catering team, handle basic till payments, and ensure equipment and stock are managed to keep areas safe and welcoming for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Must have Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS check required.
• Experience in cleaning or willingness to learn.
• Customer-driven with ability to work in a team.
• Good communication; able to use mobile apps.

Responsibilities

• Clean all areas of the building to required standards (offices, communal spaces, kitchens, washrooms).
• Complete training to deliver the role; BiCs License to Practise training provided.
• Perform deep cleaning as required; equipment checks and stock requests.
• Support catering during busy periods; serve food/drinks and handle till payments.

About The Role

Days of Working: This position will be based at Herts & Essex General Hospital, working Saturday and Sunday 7:30am until 3pm, £16.35 per hour on Saturday and £19.62 per hour on Sunday - Domestic Assistant to work on ward areas, providing cleaning and food services to patients.

As a Housekeeper, you’ll be responsible for keeping all areas of the building spotless, including offices, communal spaces, stairwells, kitchens, and washrooms. You’ll make sure everything meets the required standards and stays that way. Part of your job will involve checking equipment, requesting stock, and following other processes to keep things running smoothly. During busy times, you’ll help out the catering team, which might include serving food and drinks or handling payments. It’s a varied role that keeps you on your toes!

Key Responsibilities

• The cleaning of all areas of the building including office space, communal areas, stairwells, kitchens and washrooms (plus other ad hoc areas) and ensuring areas are cleaned to the required standards and standards are maintained at all times
• You will be required to complete all training as required to deliver your role.
• BiCs License to Practise training will be provided to support you in effectively delivering your role
• Deep cleaning of areas as required, full training will be provided to support
• Completion of equipment checks, stock requests and all other processes required to support you in effectively delivering your role
• Provide support to Catering teams during busy periods and to support event catering, this may include serving food/drinks and taking payments using till.

Candidate Criteria

• Must have Right to Work in the UK.
• An enhanced DBS will be completed for the successful candidate.
• Desirable to have experience in cleaning or be willing to learn.
• You must be customer-driven, with the ability to work well in a team.
• Communication skills are key, in order to ensure successful service delivery
• Technology skills are beneficial as the role requires the use of mobile telephone and apps.
