Housekeeper

The Chestnuts

Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

£11.44 per hour

28 Hours Per week

Who are Ambient Support?

Ambient Support, a registered UK charity with over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support services for older people, people with mental health needs, and people with learning disabilities.

Our residential care home, The Chestnuts, is a community-based home for older people in Aylesbury. We provide care and support to 64 residents, including up to 48 residents with specific dementia care needs. This is a welcoming home-from-home environment offering regular activities and organised events. The gardens at The Chestnuts are attractive and fully wheelchair accessible for residents and visitors alike.

Our Housekeeper duties will consist of:

  1. Ensuring correct infection control is maintained.
  2. Using, storing, and servicing all machinery, appliances, and equipment as instructed by the Home Manager.
  3. Being responsible for making sure all assigned areas of the home are clean, tidy, and neat, including communal areas as well as service user rooms/flats. This will include vacuuming, changing beds, and cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets, and lounges, as well as other duties as directed.
  4. Ensuring that the cleaning and domestic services are responsive to the needs of the residents and do not infringe upon their privacy.
  5. Assisting in the preparation and serving of all meals and ensuring that the catering service is responsive to the needs of those receiving meals, if required.
  6. Respecting the confidential nature of personal information.
  7. Using and storing all cleaning materials and domestic supplies in accordance with COSHH regulations to minimise waste, ensure materials and supplies can be accounted for, and avoid accidents.

Our Housekeeper needs:

  1. Capability of undertaking manual handling tasks as a core requirement.
  2. Basic literacy & numeracy.
  3. Ability to work flexibly, responding to the needs of the service, ensuring that the home has staff cover 365 days of the year.
  4. Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of Health & Safety regulations including COSHH and how it relates to the nature of the post applied for.
