Job summary

Acorn Insurance is recruiting a Household Desktop Loss Adjuster in Liverpool. Hybrid working is offered. The role involves managing a portfolio of household claims from first notification to settlement, interpreting policy wordings, and delivering timely, well-supported decisions.

You will work with contractors, surveyors and loss adjusters, drafting technical reports and maintaining reserves. A minimum of 2 years' desktop loss adjusting experience is required, with BDMA/Cert CII considered

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' Desktop Loss Adjusting experience.
• Strong technical knowledge across Buildings and Contents claims.
• Proficiency in claims case management systems.
• Desirable: Cert CII and/or BDMA accreditation (or working towards).

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of household claims from first notification through to settlement.
• Interpret policy wordings to determine coverage and liability.
• Deliver timely claim decisions with evidence-based rationale.
• Produce schedules of works with cost-effective and accurate scopes.
• Assess damage reports and third-party schedules (surveyors, engineers, loss adjusters).
• Draft detailed technical reports and settlement recommendations.
• Maintain high standard of customer service and manage expectations.
• Maintain accurate reserves in line with reserving philosophy.
• Identify and elevate potentially fraudulent claims.
• Provide technical guidance to the wider claims team.
• Stay updated on regulatory and industry developments.
