Job description

House Manager Job, Henley on Thames

A long-standing client of Greycoat Lumleys is looking to hire an experienced House Manager to join their fully staffed 7-bedroom home. There is a fantastic housekeeping team already employed consisting of 5 housekeepers. This is the principal's main residence although the principal also travels frequently and has guests staying from time to time.

Duties to include:

Property Management & Preservation

  • Oversee the daily operations and long-term preservation of a significant historic residence.
  • Collaborate with interior designers, conservationists, heritage consultants, and architects on restoration, renovation, and maintenance projects.
  • Ensure modern functionality while preserving and honouring the home’s original historic features.
  • Maintain accurate and current household manuals, inventories, and compliance documentation.

Operations & Household Oversight

  • Manage all household staff, vendors, and external service providers.
  • Handle vendor relationships, procurement, seasonal maintenance, and regular scheduling of works.
  • Coordinate closely with the Chief of Staff or family office on operational budgets and expenditure tracking.
  • Support the planning and execution of family gatherings, creative events, and philanthropic functions hosted at the residence.

Administrative Support

  • Provide secretarial or administrative assistance as needed, including calendar management, correspondence, and documentation.

This is a live out role and the salary is circa £65K - £75K gpa
