We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of our facilities, ensuring a welcoming and pristine environment for our visitors, artists, and staff.

Set amidst the rolling Somerset countryside in a beautifully reimagined former farmstead in Bruton, this role places you at the heart of a thriving arts centre. Here, creativity flourishes through a bold programme of contemporary exhibitions, immersive events, hands-on learning experiences, and inspiring artist residencies.

Full Time and Part Time available - 6am -2pm

  • Clean and sanitize all areas of the facility, including exhibition spaces, offices, restrooms, and common areas, ensuring a spotless and welcoming environment.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and waste disposal, maintaining a consistent standard of cleanliness.
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies are stocked and organised and promptly report any maintenance issues or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down for events and exhibitions, ensuring that spaces are prepared and restored efficiently.
  • Always maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Follow health and safety regulations meticulously to ensure a safe environment for visitors, artists, and staff.
  • Monitor and replenish restroom supplies regularly, ensuring that all facilities are well-maintained and fully stocked.
  • Handle special cleaning projects as assigned, such as deep cleaning, seasonal tasks, and preparation for special events.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to address any repair needs promptly, ensuring that all issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Provide support during emergency situations, such as spills or accidents, to ensure safety and cleanliness, responding swiftly and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify areas needing attention and proactively address any cleanliness or maintenance concerns.
  • Assist in training new housekeeping staff, sharing best practices and ensuring consistency in cleaning standards.
  • Engage with visitors and staff in a friendly and professional manner, providing assistance and information as needed.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or a similar role.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Proactive and reliable.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
