Live In House & Grounds Manager Job – Birmingham - £45,000 to £60,000 GPA depending on experience

Our client is looking for an experienced candidate for an interesting role to be based in Edgbaston, Birmingham. This will be a hands-on role for a candidate who can join a small team to look after a 6 bedroomed property with extensive grounds. They currently employ a part-time Housekeeper (43 years employed) and full-time Handyman / Gardener (20 years employed) work for the lady of the house, and it is planned to also bring in additional help with the cleaning.

The house itself is set in 10 acres of land with a swimming pool, tennis court and garden including an allotment.

We are looking for a candidate who can lead from the front, be a self-manager and be diplomatic in how they coordinate the existing staff to ensure that the house and grounds are kept to a high standard. The candidate needs to take ownership of the role but at the same time being part of the existing team.

This is a new role within the household, and it is envisaged that it will be a seasonally changeablejob, carryout out different projects in the winter and summer months. For example, helping in the garden during the summer with light gardening and helping indoors in the winter months generally keeping the home well organised, polishing silver and organising the pantry for example.

Duties will include:

  • Overseeing a coordinating the existing team and identify what needs doing on any given day

  • Overseeing and being hands with the general organisation of the household

  • General property maintenance – being hands on with basic property maintenance as well as bringing in trades and contractors as and when needed and overseeing them

  • Driving for the lady of the house and care of the household vehicles

  • Helping with light gardening and keeping the outside areas well maintained

  • Running errands

  • General “Housekeeping” projects

  • Property security

This is a live in role and a separate self-contained 1 bedroomed annex is provided – pets considered, sorry no partners or dependents.

Excellent references and Enhanced DBS required

Full-time role normally working Monday to Friday with some flexibility needed on weekends, especially for driving
