Job Title: Hotel ReceptionistLocation: HertfordshireSalary: GBP26,400 per annumContract Type: Full-time, PermanentHours: 40 hours per week, 5 shifts over 7 days on a rotating basis

About the Role

We are currently seeking a friendly, professional, and customer-focused Hotel Receptionist to join our front-of-house team in Hertfordshire. This is a full-time position requiring flexibility to work across a 7-day operation, including weekends and varying shift patterns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and ensure a smooth check-in/check-out process

  • Handle guest queries, complaints, and requests efficiently and professionally

  • Manage bookings, cancellations, and special requests via phone, email, and in person

  • Maintain accurate records and operate the front desk system

  • Liaise with housekeeping and other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience

  • Provide information about the hotel, local area, and amenities

  • Handle cash, card transactions, and issue invoices as required

  • Ensure the front desk and reception area are clean and presentable at all times

Shift Patterns

You will work 5 shifts per week on a rotating basis. The following shift times apply across a 7-day operation:

  • Morning Shift: 07:00 - 15:30

  • Mid Shift: 10:00 - 18:00

  • Evening Shift: 15:00 - 23:00

Please note: Weekend availability is essential for this role.

Skills and Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a hotel or customer service role is highly desirable

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A professional and welcoming manner

  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure

  • Good computer literacy; experience with booking/reservation systems is an advantage

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
