Job summary

Sopwell House in Hertfordshire is hiring a Painter & Decorator for a full-time role. You will contribute to maintaining the property interior, ensuring high standards of workmanship while minimising disruption to guests.

Shifts typically run 7:00 am–5:00 pm, with occasional evenings depending on business needs. You will work under the Maintenance Manager, with responsibilities across defects logging, preventative tasks and repairs.

Qualifications

• Passion for maintenance, painting and decorating, with high workmanship standards.
• Previous painter and decorator experience, ideally in hotels, commercial or high-quality environments.
• Good knowledge of health and safety practices and safe working procedures.
• Proactive, reliable and detail-oriented approach to work.
• Professional manner with ability to remain guest-aware and minimise disruption.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure painting and decorating work is completed to a high standard, following safety guidelines.
• Work under the Maintenance Manager on daily tasks from the defects logbook.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and keep logs up to date.
• Perform repairs and project work as required.
• Take responsibility for completing all jobs to a high standard.
