Job summary

The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Edinburgh is recruiting a Duty Maintenance Engineer to deliver 1st fix maintenance, manage planned preventative maintenance, and carry out Health & Safety duties across the hotel and spa. The role requires 2+ years in a similar environment and covers both day and night shifts, with a focus on reliability and safety.

You will work on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems, ensuring efficient operation, accurate reporting, and adherence to COSHH and site

Qualifications

• Energetic and self-motivated candidate with 2+ years in a similar setting.
• Experience in a maintenance environment, preferably hotels, 2–3 years minimum.
• Knowledge of COSHH, Risk Assessments and safe working practices.
• Knowledge of energy management and efficient system operation.
• Good oral and written communication skills; able to work on own initiative or in a team.
• Fire warden training and awareness of HVAC systems and fire alarm/sprinkler knowledge.
• Proficient with electrical distribution and fault finding; use of hand and electrical tools.

Responsibilities

• React to requests to assess and repair faults across building systems including HVAC and lighting.
• Maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Health & Safety schedules, including monthly tests.
• Perform Health & Safety testing such as Legionella controls and fire safety checks.
• Take ownership of designated role in hotel emergency evacuation procedures.
