Job summary

John Lewis Partnership in Poole (Brownsea Island) is seeking a hospitality Partner for bar and restaurant operations on a temporary contract. You’ll earn £13.00 per hour, rising to £13.25 after 90 days, with varied hours across seven days, including early starts and evenings. The role includes guest service, payment handling, and associated hospitality duties.

Hours are 37.5 per week, with a night premium for late hours (£3.75/hour) and DBS/vetting may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistently outstanding customer service as a warm and friendly Partner in bar and restaurant operations.
  • Interact with guests, take orders, check backs, clear tables and assist with queries.
  • Liaise with kitchen team and resolve guest queries/complaints at first contact.
  • Handle payments in accordance with hotel standards and ensure PPE is used correctly.
  • Assist other hotel departments when required and support changes to improve department performance.
  • Develop knowledge of food and drinks, allergens, and respond to allergen queries.
  • Maintain daily/weekly cleaning schedules and uphold food hygiene standards.

ABOUT THE ROLE

To provide consistently outstanding customer service as a warm and friendly Partner, excelling in both bar and restaurant operations, and flexibly supporting other hotel departments to ensure an unrivalled guest experience and contribute to the and profitable running of your hotel in order to achieve business and personal objectives, along with those of your team and the hotel. In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract Night Premium at a rate of £3.75 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements. Represent our brand well by always giving guests and team members excellent service. Interacting with guests, sharing product knowledge on drinks and food., while taking orders, checking back, and assisting with queries, clearing down and setting tables, as per operational standards Liaising with the kitchen team Resolving guest queries/complaints at the first point of contact. Upholding all policies and standards of food hygiene and cleanliness, including the completion of daily and weekly cleaning schedules Payment handling in accordance with hotel standards. Correct use of PPE. Supporting the implementation of changes to ensure continuous innovations and improvements are made within the department. Assisting other departments within the hotel when required. Development of personal knowledge of food and drinks, allergen awareness and confidently dealing with guest allergen queries.
