Job summary

JW Recruitment is seeking an experienced Hotel Financial Controller to take ownership of the hotel’s finance function in Manchester. You will report to the General Manager and collaborate with senior stakeholders to provide robust financial controls and commercial insight.

The role focuses on self-accounting hotel environments, producing management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting while driving profitability. A strong accounting background and UK hotel sector experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Hotel Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar within the UK hotel sector.
• Essential experience working within a self-accounting hotel.
• Strong knowledge of hotel finance processes and management reporting.
• Experience preparing management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proactive and hands-on approach with the confidence to support operational managers.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel and hotel finance systems.
• Professional accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for the hotel’s finance function within a self-accounting environment.
• Producing weekly and monthly management accounts, P&L reports and financial analysis.
• Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
• Reconciling balance sheets and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Managing payroll processes and financial controls.
• Monitoring costs, margins and departmental performance to maximise profitability.
• Preparing VAT returns and ensuring statutory compliance.
• Managing purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control functions.
• Supporting Heads of Department with financial reporting and budget management.
• Working closely with the General Manager to identify opportunities to improve commercial performance.
• Liaising with external auditors and accountants where required.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and financial procedures.

We\'re working with a well-established corporate hotel in Manchester to recruit an experienced Hotel Financial Controller to take ownership of the hotel\'s finance function. The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with senior stakeholders, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the hotel, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and providing commercial insight to support business performance.
