Job Description:

Imperial is a world Top 10 university with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The Hospitality Department of the Property Division operates cafes, restaurants, bars, events, and guest accommodations across all campuses, providing high-quality, affordable services for the Imperial community and external clients. They support Imperial's academic mission by offering valuable resources in engineering, medicine, natural sciences, business management, research, and teaching.

We seek an experienced Sales Development Manager responsible for leading the Events Sales Team to deliver high-quality internal and external events, drive revenue growth, and enhance performance in line with Imperial’s vision and values.

You will also oversee the Reservations Team to maximize revenue and profit from guest accommodations through effective systems, pricing, inventory, yield, and revenue management, ensuring a high-quality guest experience.

The role involves developing and executing a comprehensive Events Sales strategy for both internal and external events, managing high-profile internal events such as graduation ceremonies with meticulous attention to detail, and ensuring organizational objectives are met.

You will develop systems to support staff productivity, prepare annual budgets aligned with organizational goals, and work with the Marketing Manager to implement a sales and marketing strategy to increase venue visibility and brand recognition among repeat and new external clients.

The role includes integrating and developing campus and event offerings into our sales portfolio, ensuring external campus events are Imperial-led and delivered.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a similar role
  • Management experience, preferably in higher education or hotel/conference venues, demonstrating success in team leadership and management
  • Experience managing, training, motivating, and performance managing staff, with adaptability to changing priorities
  • Proficiency with diary-based booking systems (e.g., Kinetic Solutions Kx)
  • Excellent IT skills, including Outlook and Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in customer service and relationship building
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, make decisions, and manage workload independently
  • Proactive, flexible, and able to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships internally and externally
  • Willingness to work longer hours during critical periods and across campuses, including evenings and weekends
