Job description
Job Title: Hospitality Assistant Manager

Location: Emanuel School, Battersea Rise, London, SW11 1HS

Salary: £23,000 - £25,000 per annum

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, Term Time Only - 37 weeks contract

Shift Pattern: The role will flex between early/mid and late shifts per shift - between 8am and 9pm with opportunities for overtime.

Job Introduction

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hospitality Assistant Manager to deliver a front to back first-class hospitality experience to all Emanuel School stakeholders, both internal and external, to the client's satisfaction while maintaining cleanliness and hygiene at all times.

The successful candidate will work with the Contract Manager on the planning and delivery of events, including labour, food, and expenditure costs, for all internal and external events, some of which will fall outside of term time. You will be a visible and trusted Manager for Sodexo at Emanuel School by supporting the Catering Team to deliver all services across the school.

What you\'ll do
  • Deliver a front to back first-class hospitality experience to all Emanuel School stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Take full accountability and be the point of contact for all hospitality events.
  • Ensure all customers, pupils, and staff have a first-class experience with prompt and efficient service.
  • Be service-focused and driven with demonstrable impeccable standards aligned to Sodexo policies.
  • Support the Contract Manager and Head Chef in the day-to-day core food service offer.
  • Plan for success by concentrating on attention to detail of both standards and service.
  • Effectively manage the catering team to ensure exemplary hospitality services are provided.
  • Manage resources and promote an ethos of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Work with the Contract Manager to monitor team performance and support with training.
  • Comply with Company and statutory regulations relating to safe systems of work.
  • Undertake any reasonable tasks requested by the School and Sodexo.
What you bring

Essential:

  • Hotel/Event experience and/or Education with experience of large volumes and directing teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving complex operation.
  • Flexible approach to role.
  • Strong level of literacy, numeracy, and PC/software literacy.
  • Experienced leader in a similar large-scale environment.
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear and effective leadership style.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Positive attitude to self-development and willingness to learn.

  • Contract catering experience.
  • Relevant higher-level qualifications in functional specialties.
