About the role: Hospitality & Chef Teacher

Do you want to transform your career and pass on your hospitality and catering experience to the next generation? We are looking for a chef to teach and support our Level 1 and Level 2 Culinary Arts provision within the Activate Learning Hospitality and Catering department at Reading College. You will be responsible for the delivery, assessment, and tracking student achievement for the courses. This is a permanent, full-time position based at our City of Oxford College Campus.

This post provides an excellent opportunity for an individual with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential and switch on to the power of learning. Our catering offering at Activate Learning is developed in partnership with Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck Group to advance our students' cooking skills.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver, assess, and track student achievement for Level 1 and Level 2 Culinary Arts provision.
  • Contribute to the development of a unique culinary curriculum in partnership with industry (Fat Duck Group).
  • Engage with industry partners to facilitate work placements, apprenticeships, mentorships, and masterclass demonstrations.
Qualifications and experience
  • Significant experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Chef de Partie is essential.
  • A culinary qualification is essential.
  • Teaching experience is highly desirable; a background in teaching in the FE sector is essential.
  • Strong communication with industry partners and the ability to develop relationships with hotel chains, local restaurants, and contract catering employers.

Teaching experience is required in addition to having the necessary qualifications and industry experience to teach on our Hospitality and Catering courses. We will support your continued professional development in the FE sector.
