Job description

Hospital Veterinary Surgeon - Highcroft, Whitchurch

Are you interested in working in a busy hospital with an experienced team of vets and nurses? Want to work in a hospital with access to CT, advanced ultrasound scanning, blood gas analysis, endoscopy, an exotics team, and an array of certificate holders? Looking for a role with a variety of shifts and one week off in nine?

Highcroft Veterinary Hospital could be the opportunity you've been seeking.

We are looking for a full-time vet (part-time hours considered) to work a mix of consulting, operating, inpatient, and night shifts. We are also open to a consulting-only day shift pattern combined with night emergency shifts if preferred. You will be supported by a large team of vets, including certificate holders in cardiology, imaging, surgery, ECC, ophthalmology, exotics, and medicine, along with experienced vets, many of whom have been with us since graduation. Our nursing team is also highly experienced with additional training.

We operate our own out-of-hours service, with many day vets choosing to join the twilight and night team, fostering a cohesive team and ensuring a smooth patient journey.

The proposed rota includes:

  • 1 week of night shifts (including weekends) with twilight vet support until midnight
  • 1 week off
  • 7 weeks of day shifts

There are no additional weekends. We are flexible and can consider a 2-4 day working week during the day shift week.

Within this exciting opportunity, we offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Industry-leading maternity & parental leave
  • Up to 9 weeks of annual leave with buy/sell scheme plus bank holidays
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • Funding for visa sponsorship
  • Funding for a certificate in emergency and critical care. If you have already started your certification, we will also help pay any outstanding fees!

CVS is committed to being a fully inclusive workplace where all colleagues are encouraged and supported to be themselves, where diversity is celebrated, and where everyone can deliver their best. We aim to build a workforce that reflects our diverse communities and the people we serve.
