Candidates should possess at least 3-6 months experience in a similar role and a Full PVG. Opportunities for part-time and full-time shifts are available.

Job description

Search consultancy in Glasgow are recruiting for agency hospital porters to work with our clients in Glasgow and surrounding areas.

Must have at least 3-6 months experience as a hospital porter.
Must have a Full PVG

Shift: Part time or Full time or Shift Work
Time: All different will be discussed on call.

Pay rate: £12.21 per hour


Key duties and responsibilities of a hospital porter:


Patient Transportation: Moving patients between wards, departments (like X-ray), and to and from beds, using wheelchairs, trolleys, and other equipment.
Equipment and Supply Management: Ensuring the safe and timely movement of medical equipment, furniture, linens, medical records, specimens, and other supplies.
Waste Management: Collecting and disposing of waste, including potentially hazardous materials.
Mortuary Transfers: Transporting deceased patients to the mortuary.
Delivery and Distribution: Handling mail, parcels, and other deliveries throughout the hospital.
General Support: Assisting with meal delivery, tidying up, cleaning trolleys, and other tasks as needed.
Interpersonal Skills: Providing a reassuring and supportive presence to patients, especially those who may be anxious or distressed.
Safety and Compliance: Adhering to health and safety guidelines, manual handling regulations, and infection control procedures.
Communication: Maintaining clear communication with other health care staff and patients.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Being able to adapt to changing situations and respond to emergencies.

In addition to these core duties, hospital porters may also be involved in tasks such as cleaning, outdoor maintenance, and assisting with deliveries outside the hospital in some cases. They play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the hospital and contribute to a positive patient experience.
