Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board’s Pharmacy Department is seeking a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join the team across specialties at Singleton Hospital. The role covers wards and the dispensary with a focus on medicines management and high-quality patient care.

You will support the extended role of technicians, develop skills in hospital pharmacy and work within the MDT with Neonatology, maternity, cancer, surgery and ophthalmology.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 and BTEC in pharmaceutical science (or equivalent).
• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician and Medicines Management qualified or relevant demonstrable experience to degree level.
• Significant hospital pharmacy experience and ability to lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide a medicines management service to an inpatient ward including drug history, and medicines reconciliation.
• Responsible for safe, efficient and effective checking of prescriptions dispensed by other members of the pharmacy team in the dispensary and ward based (including Clinical Trials).
• Being part of the ward MDT and the wider pharmacy team. This includes being part of the pharmacy weekend and bank holiday rota.
• Support Education and Training activities within the department.
• Provide leadership and mentoring within the dispensary and ward-based teams.
