Job summary

Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Catering Assistant (Band 2) to support its catering department. This full-time role involves 37.5 hours per week with a rotational shift pattern that includes weekends and bank holidays, contributing to patient and staff meals within a busy hospital setting.

The successful applicant will handle food service, maintain high hygiene standards, and work flexibly across the central kitchen, stores, and restaurant.

Qualifications

• Basic numeracy and literacy.
• NVQ Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
• Experience in catering service or healthcare food service is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake food service to patients, staff and visitors.
• Ensure presentation, portion control, temperature control and food quality standards.
• Prepare snacks and salads and other items for sale.
• Clean floors, surfaces and equipment in kitchen and dining areas.
• Replenish stock in restaurant/kitchen; manual handling may be required.
• Attend training programs as directed by the Food and Beverage Manager.
• Check refrigerator temperatures and maintain records.
• Dispose of catering waste according to policy and operate waste disposal unit.
• Be flexible to work in central kitchen, stores or restaurant as needed.
