Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a Grounds person to support the Estates team across hospital grounds and gardens. The role covers mowing, pruning, planting and routine upkeep in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.

You will work with the Grounds Supervisor to implement the maintenance programme, ensure safety and complete records. Flexibility to respond to changing requirements and to work out of hours as needed is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance, preferably in hospital or large industrial environment.
• Ability to safely operate garden machinery.
• Flexibility to work out of hours and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to a high standard for grounds and gardens.
• Liaise with the Grounds Supervisor and Estates team to implement the maintenance programme.
• Support winter gritting and snow clearance at hospital sites.
• Drive and operate grounds vehicles; carry out minor maintenance and record details in logs.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements for self and colleagues.
• Prioritise and organise work to minimise disruption and meet service needs.
