Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a General Maintenance Assistant (Electrical) to join the Estates Department at Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Bournemouth. You will work on hospital electrical systems seven days a week, covering lighting, fire alarms, nurse call and related equipment, providing day-to-day repairs and first-line responses.

The role requires a proactive, multi-skilled team player with relevant electrical qualifications and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Experience of electrical maintenance work in building services to NVQ3 level or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence (Manual).
• 18th Edition IEE regulations.
• City and Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing certificate.
• Confined space training.
• City & Guilds 2377 certificate of competence for inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

• The post holder will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance and repair of the Electrical building services installations within the trust in line with current policies and procedures.
• Undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work including planned preventive maintenance work and labouring including electrical shutdowns.
