Job summary

Camborne Redruth Community Hospital is seeking a motivated and reliable General Services Assistant to maintain cleanliness, hygiene and infection prevention, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

The role requires flexibility to cover a 7-day service between 06:00 and 20:00, including weekends and bank holidays. Training and ongoing support will be provided to help you learn and perform effectively.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a cleaning, housekeeping or similar role is essential.
• Training and support will be provided to the successful applicant.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily cleaning duties in accordance with Trust cleaning standards, schedules and procedures.
• Ensure wards, departments, sanitary areas, offices and communal spaces are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Receive and check cleaning supplies and other delivered goods, reporting any discrepancies or shortages.
• Assist with stock control and monitor the use of cleaning materials, reporting low stock levels to the Supervisor or Senior GSA.
• Take responsibility for all keys, cleaning equipment and resources issued during your shift.
• Report maintenance issues, equipment faults, security concerns and health and safety risks promptly.
• Use cleaning equipment safely and effectively following training and local procedures.
• Adhere to all Health and Safety legislation, COSHH regulations and Trust policies.
• Maintain a professional appearance and high standards of personal hygiene at all times.
• Treat patients, visitors and colleagues with dignity, respect, kindness and courtesy.
• Be mindful of patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality when working in clinical and patient areas.
• Support colleagues and contribute positively to the delivery of a high-quality cleaning service
