The Crown Estate is seeking a dedicated and skilled Horticulturist to join our team at Windsor on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. This role involves maintaining and developing the gardens and associated areas to the highest horticultural standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance Tasks: Grass cutting, edging, strimming, weeding, herbicide application, irrigation, turf maintenance, young tree maintenance, shrub and rose bed maintenance.

• Development Tasks: Turf laying and seeding, tree and shrub planting, bulb planting, path laying, drainage and ditching work.

• Professional Conduct: Adhere to risk assessments and safe systems of work, implement plans from the Team Supervisor, maintain high horticultural standards, interact courteously with visitors, ensure security and care of tools and machinery.

• Team Support: Assist in delivering wider Estate objectives, undertake special projects as agreed with the Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent.

• Experience: Proven practical experience in horticulture, understanding of land-based health and safety practices.

• Skills: Ability to work independently, attention to detail, team-oriented, problem-solving skills, reliable and flexible approach, good communication skills, physically fit, full driving license, diverse knowledge of horticultural techniques, solid knowledge of plant identification, practical knowledge of tool and machinery use and maintenance.

• Certifications: PA1 and PA6 certificates desirable, First Aid trained (training provided).
