Job summary

Specialist College Stanwell is seeking a Horticulture Tutor to guide students aged 16-25 with EHCPs in practical gardening skills and personal development. The role focuses on hands-on sessions in the college gardens, with emphasis on accessibility and student engagement.

You will plan engaging practical sessions, break tasks into manageable steps, and weave English, maths and work skills into real-world tasks while monitoring progress and celebrating achievements.

Qualifications

• Horticulture qualifications or hands-on gardening experience.
• Experience teaching, training or supervising others (FE lecturing, volunteers, or Forest School).
• Patient, warm and calm demeanor with young adults.
• SEN experience is a plus but not essential; willingness to get DBS updated if needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead practical sessions in college gardens and grounds.
• Break tasks into clear steps so every learner can participate.
• Incorporate English, maths and work skills into real tasks.
• Track progress and celebrate wins, big or small.
