An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join the Shaftesbury Millie College Enterprise team as an Enterprise Technician within the Cultivate team. This team focuses on outdoor Enterprise areas, including Horticulture and Conservation, working closely to align curriculum with the natural environment.

Shaftesbury Millie College is a post-16-25 education setting in Dorset, supporting young people with disabilities, bridging education and employment. Located on a 350-acre site near Poole, the college offers curricula aligned with its natural surroundings and enterprise activities such as crafts, catering, retail, conservation, horticulture, and animal care.

As a Conservation Technician in the Cultivate Team, you will ensure the smooth operation of Conservation Horticulture activities, working with Horticulture Technicians and the education team to maintain safe, accessible learning environments, including nurseries, gardens, and conservation areas.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the outdoors, proactive in supporting student learning, confident in horticulture and conservation, and responsible for identifying growth areas within the role. Flexibility is essential, including weekend work on a rota basis. Part-time options are available.

Main Duties
  1. Oversee Conservation Horticulture enterprise areas across the college.
  2. Maintain health & safety records and ensure compliance.
  3. Inspect grounds and structures regularly for safety concerns and ensure maintenance.
  4. Communicate effectively with Enterprise managers for smooth delivery.
  5. Identify repairs or replacements needed and coordinate with maintenance teams.
  6. Support ordering of materials and equipment.
  7. Undertake additional duties as required.
  8. Follow all health and safety procedures.
  9. Work out of hours and weekends as needed.
  10. Work at other local sites if required.
  11. Adhere to college policies and support the college's Christian ethos.
  12. Assist with college events, open days, and social media stories.
