Job summary

Hertsmere Borough Council seeks a Homelessness Prevention Officer to join the Housing Service on a permanent, full‑time basis. You will work as part of a small team to prevent and relieve homelessness, handling a varied workload with a solutions-focused mindset.

The role requires knowledge of housing and relevant legislation, strong communication and negotiation skills, and a caring approach to customers. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in a housing-related environment.
• Good knowledge of housing and associated legislation.

Responsibilities

• Proactively preventing and relieving homelessness as part of a small team.
• Manage a complex and varied workload with organisation and methodical approach.
• Develop the homelessness prevention service and contribute new ideas and initiatives.
